Suddenly I Am Run Over By A Truck....

Posted by Nora Quick on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, In : A Writer's Life

Happy Almost Halloween, kiddees. The title of this post is from something my father used to say. It pissed him off when dynamic stories or movies suddenly ended abruptly with no explanation. He used to chalk it up to lazy, bad writing, rather than an existential commemoration of the protagonist. That's what today feels like for me.

Irony: Tragedy and comedy are the same, but different. Set-Up, expectation, Culmination, Inverse return defines them both. However, tragedy sucks.

Posted by Nora Quick on Thursday, October 25, 2012, In : Books

Halloween is almost here. It's time for parties, costumes, candy, and scary movies. Is there any better time of year? No! Well, mayhaps you celebrate Christmas (I don't) and get lots of gifts, but then you have to spend all that money and time getting gifts to exchange. While you'll be doing that I'll relaxing.

For the next week the blog will be sparing because I have something planned for every day from tomorrow, Friday 10/26 through the following weekend. I do apologize the past 2 weeks have...

Writing 102: 2-C What's Your Kryptonite?

Posted by Nora Quick on Sunday, October 21, 2012, In : Writing 102

Now that you're writing, one issue you may face is writer's block. Remember our first, best defense against writer's block is a proper outline & summary. Why? Struggling to generate content is one main cause of writer's block. Let's examine the causes now:

Here is one of the few places where "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" rings true

1. Inability to generate new content
2. Difficulty maintaining attention
3. Strong desire to work on another project
4. Not being in the mood (aka ...

Quick Missives

Posted by Nora Quick on Friday, October 19, 2012, In : A Writer's Life

It's been a little while since I posted, been dealing with strange writer's block. I have blogger's block actually, but writing is going great. I started work on a short story that fit in with Halloween, trying to finish it.

I've been working my night job a lot lately and have a friend staying with me, so this is a very short post as I am very busy. The new Secret Desires is up on literotica, and Sunday it Chapter 10 will be submitted there and posted here.

The next Writing 102 will come tomo...

Writing 102: 2-B Get Bent, Tax Maaaaaaan!

Posted by Nora Quick on Friday, October 12, 2012, In : Writing 102

It's time to audit yourself. Does that word make your flesh crawl? Okay, goof off for a moment and watch Stranger Than Fiction. Every writer should watch a movie about writers just to see how amusingly insane they are, and how far off from reality they'll be. Bonus: you'll also get the title of this post.

Breaks are good whenever work has you feeling like this

Done? Good. It's time to revisit budgeting for time which we covered in Writing 101: 3-C.  Did you do those calculations? Realllllly? ...

New Book Coming This December! (Update on Marly Jackson 2 As Well)

Posted by Nora Quick on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, In : Books

Hello all. 2012 has been a..."dynamic" year. Not a very good one for me, I've had a lot of health issues and set backs. Through it all I've been trying my best, but to ensure that Marly Jackson's next re-worked novel The Violin Case if up to snuff, I am delaying publishing to March 5th, 2013.

However, a project I have been working on will be published at Amazon and Barnes & Noble for eReaders only December 17th, 2012.

It will be Wolf Tales Volume I. There will be a new never-before-published sh...

Fasten Your Seat Belts, It's Gonna Be Be a Bumpy Ride

Posted by Nora Quick on Monday, October 8, 2012, In : Strangeness

I have a new story in Literotica's Halloween contest today. (I also submitted the next chapter of Secret Desires, currently available here.)

My regular erotica fans might not be interested in Lust in the City of the Dead-it's an incest story. What!? You may be asking yourself. Well, I'll let you in on a little secret. I love reading incest stories.I don't think incest is right, and the reality of it disgusts me. But as a fantasy in pornography, it's titillating.

Let's take a moment to examine w...

Vote Early, Vote Often!

Posted by Nora Quick on Saturday, October 6, 2012, In : Contests
I have 2 stories (of 3 planned ones) in the Literotica Halloween Contest. Please my friends, read them and vote!

First up is the short 4,500 word (on Literotica that's 2 pages) erotica horror Something Wicked This Way Came. It's a short story about Gina, attending a sexy reunion Halloween party only to meet a masked man who seduces her. But just who is he? More importantly...what is he?

Next we have the novella Wolf Tale: The Magic which is part of the Wolf Tales universe. It's the story of Eli...
