106-3: I Have That Goddamn Vitamin C Song Stuck In My Head Too....

Posted by Nora Quick on Saturday, August 8, 2015, In : Writing 106

We made it to the end. If you are reading this, you have a website, a blog, and social media accounts under your publishing name. You have a completed, published book, you are a member of a writing group, you’ve been attending events as an author, and you’re working hard at marketing yourself. Maybe you have an agent, a publishing contract, or you have a growing reputation as an Indie author.

If you followed all the lessons, whatever your goal was, you have reached it, the first and most i...

Over And Over And Over And Over...

Posted by Nora Quick on Tuesday, January 1, 2013, In : Books
Well, after all the drama of the last month, it's ending on a low note: as a result of losing my day job when I informed my landlord I'd be late with January rent he responded by kicking me out, giving me 30 days notice. That's the downside to renting month-to-month, those assholes can do that.

Perfect. So now I make half what I used to and now need to magically come up with rent and a security deposit plus movers within 30 days. Real great. I'll land on my feet somehow. Don't ask me how, but ...

I'd Like to Thank Bobbie Gentry...And Vodka

Posted by Nora Quick on Friday, December 14, 2012, In : A Writer's Life
Oh, by the gods, December 13th was an amazingly tough day. I really went through the emotional wringer.

I woke up to an email from Amazon saying A) Some stories from Wolf Tales Volume I had been plagiarized and stolen, and were on the web and B) They were blocking WTVI from publication because they doubted I was the copyright holder. Essentially, I was the victim of a crime, and being punished for it.

I have a temper that in my younger years was a thing of legend. I've worked hard to tamp it do...

Wolf Tales Volume I Delayed

Posted by Nora Quick on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, In : Books
Well, well, well...Amazon.com *shakes head* They have delayed WTVI and I don't know when the hell it will come out.

It began when they sent me an email that said "It appears content from your book is available on multiple URLs. Please tell us each URL where your content is available for free and submit proof you are the copyright holder." You gotta love when someone basically says "we found errors, but you have to tell us where they are."

Now this sent me into a panic. Three earlier versions of...

New Secret Desires Chapter Up & Wolf Tales Volume I Update

Posted by Nora Quick on Monday, December 10, 2012, In : Books
The latest chapter of Secret Desires is finally up here. Look for it on literotica soon.

If you feel this awesome you've either figured out how to master serial writing while publishing a book, or you figured out how to mix coke with E

I am super-jazzed tonight. Wolf Tales Volume I is uploaded and just waiting for deployment on Amazon, and the original short stories that are part of it on literotica.com are down. I had to send a private message to Laurel, the site owner/admin. She took the t...

Wolf Tales Volume I

Posted by Nora Quick on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, In : Books
It's almost done! Fully edited, all that is left is to figure out the final story order of Wolf Tales Volume I and do some final formatting for eReaders. Almost there!

As such, if I can get this all done this week I will write the next chapter of Secret Desires to be up on here by 12/10 or the 11th at latest, only literotica just a few days later.

Oh, finishing a book is a little sad as always, but since this is a series I know my favorite characters will reappear in at a later date. Hell, I...

Bark At The Moon

Posted by Nora Quick on Friday, November 30, 2012, In : Books

It's begun. My posting will be spare the next week as I finish up work on Wolf Tales Volume I. It's rush-rush, but I'm doing my best to make sure it's smooth.

Sadly the delay came from one critique writer. I suddenly had two choices I wanted to work on for the final medium-length short story and asked them to vote. She was the tie-breaker, and got to me a week late. So I had to write both at the same time. Now I finally have the answer and am going full steam.

The new short stories show us the ...

I Like Work, It Fascinates Me:I Sit & Stare At It For Hours

Posted by Nora Quick on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, In : A Writer's Life

A friend in need is a fiend indeed. Let me state first and foremost I love my friends, many like siblings, but god, having a social life precludes being productive, particularly with writing.

Seriously, does work look appealing compared to this?

I really think college is valuable in only one way: it teaches us we only have time to fully enjoy two things. Want to do well in school and have friends? No sleep for you. Want to have good grades and a full nights sleep? Gotta be lonely. Want to s...

Feed A Cold, Starve A fever, and Sedate A Writer

Posted by Nora Quick on Friday, November 16, 2012, In : A Writer's Life

Sorry for my absence, and the delay in posting Secret Desires Chapter 13 (now up and available here). I got hit by the flu and was down for the count for 4.5 days. Now I'm playing catch up on all 3 of my jobs. Ugh.

When you're sick you can;t write, you can't do damn near anything

After Thanksgiving, Secret Desires updates will be on hold for all of December so I can turn my attention to final edits and formatting of Wolf Tales Volume I. It's going to get down to the wire.

After that the next ...

Suddenly I Am Run Over By A Truck....

Posted by Nora Quick on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, In : A Writer's Life

Happy Almost Halloween, kiddees. The title of this post is from something my father used to say. It pissed him off when dynamic stories or movies suddenly ended abruptly with no explanation. He used to chalk it up to lazy, bad writing, rather than an existential commemoration of the protagonist. That's what today feels like for me.

Irony: Tragedy and comedy are the same, but different. Set-Up, expectation, Culmination, Inverse return defines them both. However, tragedy sucks.

It's The Most Wounderful Tiiiiiiime of the Yeeeeeaaaaarrrrr!!!

Posted by Nora Quick on Thursday, October 25, 2012, In : Books

Halloween is almost here. It's time for parties, costumes, candy, and scary movies. Is there any better time of year? No! Well, mayhaps you celebrate Christmas (I don't) and get lots of gifts, but then you have to spend all that money and time getting gifts to exchange. While you'll be doing that I'll relaxing.

For the next week the blog will be sparing because I have something planned for every day from tomorrow, Friday 10/26 through the following weekend. I do apologize the past 2 weeks have...

New Book Coming This December! (Update on Marly Jackson 2 As Well)

Posted by Nora Quick on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, In : Books

Hello all. 2012 has been a..."dynamic" year. Not a very good one for me, I've had a lot of health issues and set backs. Through it all I've been trying my best, but to ensure that Marly Jackson's next re-worked novel The Violin Case if up to snuff, I am delaying publishing to March 5th, 2013.

However, a project I have been working on will be published at Amazon and Barnes & Noble for eReaders only December 17th, 2012.

It will be Wolf Tales Volume I. There will be a new never-before-published sh...

Vote Early, Vote Often!

Posted by Nora Quick on Saturday, October 6, 2012, In : Contests
I have 2 stories (of 3 planned ones) in the Literotica Halloween Contest. Please my friends, read them and vote!

First up is the short 4,500 word (on Literotica that's 2 pages) erotica horror Something Wicked This Way Came. It's a short story about Gina, attending a sexy reunion Halloween party only to meet a masked man who seduces her. But just who is he? More importantly...what is he?

Next we have the novella Wolf Tale: The Magic which is part of the Wolf Tales universe. It's the story of Eli...
